Sure. Most of them want to offer their customers exactly what they need. Also they modify the appearance of the cPanel to suit their company profile.

I just found out that most hosting companies modify their c panels. Does anyone know why they would do that?

Although unlimited bandwidth offers sound terrific, you must always refer to a web host Terms of Service agreements as this will outline the true benefits of bandwidth usage.

I have just started up my own hosting review site.
Your comments about unlimited claims on web hosting sites are probably valid. The idea of stating limits is a good one as it would help the customer to choose.
As for me my host providers are Hostgator. Must say they are fine for me but i must say i don't know what the limits are.

There is no such thing as unlimited - the resources will always be limited, but theres a good chance that you won't meet those limits, so they say it's unlimited. Server performance is the first thing that will suffer with shared "unlimited" hosting accounts as the resources start filling up. When there are many popular websites on the same server with a lot of traffic, it is going to mean that some of the sites start timing out.

I have had many misconceptions that web host'ers provide unlimited bandwidth, space etc. There obviously isn't any truth to this as there of course are limits in place. Do you think that is should be made clear in the purchase process what those limits are?

Cheers - Arren
