Masticating Juicers

If you are new to the world of juicers, you need to first figure out what type of juicers you are looking for. There are masticating juicers, centrifugal juicers and triturating juicers, which all produce a slightly different end product. Depending on what you are trying to achieve, you should choose the juicer accordingly. So for example if you are looking to create juices from such as wheatgrass or any other kind of grass, you would not go with a centrifugal juicer as these are very low in water and they will require more of a masticating to get the juice out from them.

What is a masticating juicer?

The biggest difference that is between centrifugal, triturating and masticating juicers is the way they produce the juices. What you think of fruits and vegetables that need to be ground in to pieces and mashed to get the juice out from them you are going to need a masticating juicer. What it does it takes your wheatgrass, barleygrass or any other dryish and firm grass or vegetable that you are juicing and puts it under quite a beating.

When you eat something, your mouth is masticating the food, and you usually notice that quite a few things that seem to be dry,end up releasing quite a lot of water after all. It isn’t just your saliva there! Spinach is a very common leaf which is considered to be quite dry,but ends up releasing quite a lot of water when it is masticated. It doesn’t matter whether you are chewing it or using a juicer –but if you would put it in a centrifugal juicer you would not get much out of it,as it doesn’t break the structure so efficiently.

Some people also prefer the type of juice you get from a masticating juicer because they get so much pulp in it. A lot of people prefer a nice and smooth juice, but if you don’t mind the pulp you should go with a bit rougher juice. Kids usually detest the pulp and want a very smooth juice, but grinding in all the bits and pieces that contain a higher amount of vitamins and antioxidants is also very important. If you can get your kids to drink a masticated wheatgrass juice every morning, you are doing a really good thing for their long term health.

Which masticating juicer to buy?

There are quite a lot of different options when it comes to choosing your masticating juicer, and that is why I have made a short list here that shows you some of the models that I have tested and found to be good. I have used quite a lot of different ones, but these made it to my top list for a reason.

Omega 8002 Nutrition Center

Honestly. There isn’t an easier way to incorporate more vegetables in to your diet. This machine is one of the highest quality juicers I have ever tried, and not only one of the best masticating juicers around. When you order it,it will be in a few pieces that are very easy to put together. When I opened the package I was a bit overwhelmed, but after reading the few steps on how you put the juicer together I realized that it is a very simple process. After that it was ready for some heavy duty juicing! This is still my juicer of choice and I have it in my kitchen in use on a daily basis –sometimes twice a day. It is silent, sturdy, effective and easy to use. The reason for all this is that it doesn’t use that high speed motor that most of the masticating juicers use. Instead it has a low velocity motor which doesn’t make as much noise, doesn’t heat up,and it gives you a better end result. Click here for more information…

Samson GB-9001 in Black –Wheatgrass Fruit and Vegetable Juicer

The reason why I like this juicer as well is that like the Omega juicer above,it isn’t just a grass juicer. Even though it is a masticating juicer, you will be able to juice all kinds of vegetables and fruits with it as well. Most of the people who I know have this Samson, have thrown away their other juicers because this was able to take care of all the juicing that they needed to be done.
