By this time almost everyone has heard that Zantrex-3 is the Snooki Weight Loss Secret! It is no surprise that celebrities are able to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time when they have this effective weight loss supplements at their disposal, usually before the average consumer gets their hands on the supplement.
Normally a company will approach a celebrity before they release a groundbreaking supplement, and help this lucky celeb get the body of their dreams in a short period of time. Then they will “accidentally”release their secret to the fans –usually with a picture of them holding the product when digging something out of their purse!
This is all a marketing trick, but does Zantrex-3 actually work, that is the question!
What we like to do here is to have a look at the ingredients of different weight loss pills, and then go through hundreds of pages of scientific research to see if there is an ingredient in the supplement, which is proven to work.
Then we look at the dose to see if that particular dose has been proven to be effective –you would be surprised how many supplements contain active ingredients, but not enough of them to actually make a difference!
First of all,I want to make it clear that it was very difficult to find the ingredients of this product on the internet –we didn’t even find a proper website from the manufacturer where we could find what is in this supplement,so we decided to order the pills and see what anyone doing the same, will get.
We all see Snooki holding a red Zantrex-3 bottle, which is the fat burner of the two. Here you have the label scanned so you can see for yourself what does it contain. Many of these ingredients are often found in fat burners, and if you are familiar with these products, you will find many of them familiar.
There are literally hundreds of studies and some of them actually have really positive effects when it comes to losing fat (1),especially when combined with green tea (2). Generally the used dose of caffeine is 200mg.
Green tea alone has also been used quite widely for weight loss purposes (3,6),and with green tea it is the EGCG –epigallocatechin-3 –that plays the role of improving weight loss results. If you are familiar with weight loss supplements, you most likely have heard of many people who have found that green tea helps with their weight loss. This is in deed true, and it also has been shown to have many health benefits (4,5).
Studies where an improvement in fat oxidation using green tea has been shown used up to 600mg doses (7),but were effective even at 200mg doses, when combined with caffeine there wasn’t a real improvement noticed (7).
The reason why these “new”supplements are hitting the shelves so often is that they are combining tried and true supplements,to get the most out of each ingredient. Yerba mate in Zantrex-3 has been shown to work very well (8),and it works for a few reasons. First of all it has been shown to delay the emptying of your stomach (8),thus reducing your appetite –you feel full a lot longer.
This study (8) was done on YDG herbal mixture which contains not only Yerbe Mate, but also Guarana and Damiana, which all are ingredients in the Zantrex-3. They showed it delayed the food from leaving the stomach for almost an hour! This means you feel full an hour longer.
Ginseng is a very well known supplement, and it might just have a fat burning effect (9). The other ingredients are known for their health benefits, and in some extent they might be used as “fillers”in this particular product. They are there to make the list more impressive, but the amounts are most likely quite small, and the supplement is already very effective with the ingredients above them in the list.
The biggest problem we found was that Zoller Labs is not giving full disclosure on the amounts in Zantrex-3. We have no idea how much of caffeine there is,how much of green tea,how much of Yerba Mate and so on. What we do know is that many of the people using it,are losing weight, and lots of it.
